To help overcome the overwhelm of transitioning to a new season
I don’t know about you, but I certainly love the freer more flexible nature of summer, with usually more time off work, offices being quieter as there is usually someone on leave, receiving 'out of offices' which means you won't get an immediate response (yay!)
However, as the summer ends I always begin to notice that I feel more overwhelmed, unorganised and a little all over the place. A very technical term! I notice that my ‘to do’ list is overflowing. My ability to concentrate is reduced and I feel a bit restless. I know that I thrive off having some structure and routine in place. I always find it amusing as by the beginning of September I can sense that distant feeling of the back to school routine arriving. I’ll be honest with you, it’s been quite a few years since I was at school and so you’d think I’d have grown out of this by now! However, instead of ignoring this feeling I use it to guide me and empower me to pause, rest and be more intentional in my actions to help me feel focused, refreshed and back in control.
Towards the end of summer Georgia Emms (an incredible mindfulness and wellbeing consultant) and I had this very conversation and we decided that we would host a free webinar where we share our expertise on why we feel this way, but also how to ground ourselves and regroup ready to hit the ground running in September.
Georgia also shared a short, meaningful mindfulness practice with us. She has a way of making mindfulness so accessible. I thought that I would share the recording to the webinar here in case anyone else was feeling a little overwhelmed with the transition from summer to autumn. I hope you find the webinar useful, please feel free to share it with others or save it to come back to when you need it.
